Nepal Marathon, Marathon Nepal,

Let me introduce Binay, Our Qualified Mountain Guide and Nepal Marathon Organiser.

Nepal Marathon is organiser by our qualified Mountain Guide Binay Lama. We first met Binay when he guided us to Everest Base Camp in 2011. We just fell in love with Nepal from this moment on and became good friends with Binay as we watched in awe how he organised the whole trek seamlessly, creating banter with all of us and encouraging anyone who needed it.  He took care of people when they became sick and we really felt we could trust this guy with our lives.

In 2015 we were privileged to be invited to his wedding in Kathmandu to the beautiful Samikshya and although it was a quick visit it was something we are glad we didn’t miss. After the wedding he took us to his countryside home in Bimkhori-Manegau where he was born. We had the most amazing welcome and just loved the relaxed, unspoiled, atmosphere of the village. It was like stepping back centuries into a world so different to ours.

A month later Nepal experienced the awful earthquake and Binays village was badly hit leaving most people homeless. We felt we needed to do something to help these people who had so little anyway and gave us so much.  This is when we had the Nepal Marathon idea.

16 runners went over in April 2016 and if you read their testimonials you will see it was so much more than a run for them.  It was wonderful for us to show others this remote part of the world which is untouched by tourism, and it was so rewarding when at the end of their stay they came away saying “we get it. ” It is hard to describe “we get it” but if you come over you will understand.

Every penny you pay for this trek goes directly to the people living in village. People who live here are very self-sufficient, and the opportunity to earn money is very slight.

Binay- Was born in Bhimkhori and his father died when he was six month old. Leaving his mother with 3 children to bring up on her own. Binay moved to Kathmandu when he was 14 years old and became a porter for his Uncle and carried visitors bags up and down to Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp. Gary Collier from Blackpool spotted Binay’s capabilities and paid for Binay to do qualifications to set up his own company Sacred Himalaya. If you want any trek in Nepal at any time of the year contact Binay directly via his website www.sacredhimalaya.com whatever your needs Binay will see to them, the size of your party does not matter.

Binay’s brother Durgha and the porters are also fantastic company and will enjoy banter with you.  They work very hard to ensure you are safe and having a wonderful time.  If there is anything you need, just ask.  These guys fall over backwards to accommodate you.
